Still dealing with exhaustion here, but the feeling does seem to have lifted a bit. The tots have been well-behaved lately. Their mischievousness has been at a minimum. Not sure if it's because they sense my exhaustion or because of Santa's much anticipated visit, but it works for me...
Lots going on, little time to write....
Spencer went to a formal dance Friday night. Now that he drives, it was the first time he didn't need me to be his chauffeur to a school function. Although not having to be his taxi undeniably makes my life easier, I do miss those precious times to connect and talk. No TVs, phone calls.... just trapped in the car with me to talk to.
Friday night we finally began our Christmas shopping. "Tis the season to be jolly, fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-laaaaaa...." Although we still have more shopping to do, we were able to tackle a good portion of the Christmas list. So far we have even managed to stick to our budget. Thank you BIG LOTS, Targets, and The Christmas Tree Shoppe.
Yesterday we dragged out the Christmas lights and decorations. Admittedly, we were looking pretty *Grinchy* around here. ...But no more. When Sammi and Mikey saw the decorations, their eyes lit up brighter than the brightest Christmas light. Watching them experience Christmas through brand new eyes, has somehow made the holiday seem almost new to me too. Yes, the magic of Christmas is truly more than what one wraps up and puts under the tree.
Tomorrow night we're going to pick out a tree and wreath for the door. This year when we decorate; I'll try to resist the urge to move the ornaments that the kids will no doubt put in the wrong place. I will try to ignore the bald spots that have no decorations and remember that in it's childish imperfection, the Christmas tree will be decorated perfectly....

ugh. we have barely started christmas shopping and decorating at my house, were late this year. no tree yet, not until weekend....
my 3 year old is REALLY into christmas, he's telling me where to decorate and what with, and he wants a reindeer and can't wait to ride in the sleigh and all the lights on everyone's house is AMAZING! LOL, until we pull up to our house and we have no outside christmas decorations, I can hear in his little voice when he says "we need chistmas too" as we get out of the car, the magic that children hold so dear about the holiday. So, needless to say, almost 2 weeks into December I finally drag out the stuff. and boy did his eyes light up! lol. This is why I like Christmas, because of my kids. :)
Good for you on the Christmas shopping!!!! I bet you sat home and worried the entire time Spencer was gone though didn't you? I am not looking forward to those days and they are coming WAAAAYY too quickly for this Momma! We have the lights on our tree so far, but no decorations. Have to wait until everyone is home and ready before even one gets put on the tree. Then it's fun time! :)

Still trying to find time to Christmafy down here. It's hard to get in the mood with no snow and 70 degree temps! Enjoy this stage - too soon they'll be too big to be bothered, sombody else's family will be "more fun", your own traditions will be "boring" and Santa will fall asleep before the kids do.
Try setting up a video camera when you go to bed Christmas Eve and start it by remote when the kids get up. Hopefully, they won't be in their nudist phase. :)
Ooh, you're my kind of girl. I live for Big Lots. How does anybody shop anywhere else? They've got the neatest things for the neatest prices. Oh, and just a reminder...they start selling Chirstmas trees in October. Remember that next year and you won't have to be the Scrooge of the Block come December 13th!
Aw, a nice start to the upcoming holiday! Isn't it awesome, reliving Christmas through the little ones? Sometimes, it feels even more magical than it used to! :)

fa-la-la-la-laaaaa... LOL Merry Christmas, Michelle! Sounds like Christmas is on the move there. Bet the kids are having a blast. We finally bought non-breakable glass-looking ornaments this year because Jacy has a habit of crushing the glass balls I love so much every time we put the tree together. LOL And I know all about those bald spots. tehehe...
